Project: Fitted kitchen installation
Location: Clifton Village, Bristol
This project brought together the best of both worlds – the functionality of a contemporary kitchen and the charm of traditional craftsmanship. The client’s vision was clear: a fitted kitchen with all the modern conveniences, paired with timeless, framed frontals and a hand-painted finish.
Creating this balance called for thoughtful sourcing and a careful approach. Most widely available kitchens today rely on melamine-faced chipboard for the carcasses – a cost-effective choice, but not well suited for a hand-painted finish. Instead, we needed solid timber cabinetry and frontals that could be painted and finished by hand, creating that subtle, tactile quality that only wood can offer.
The challenge was to find a supplier who could provide high-quality, paint-ready timber components at a sensible price point – an alternative to a fully bespoke kitchen that wouldn’t compromise on the finish. After careful research, we sourced a manufacturer whose product struck the perfect balance between craftsmanship and value.
Technically, the process involved integrating standard appliances into a frame-and-panel kitchen layout, ensuring seamless functionality without losing the traditional feel. I worked closely with the client to bring their vision to life, ensuring every detail felt intentional.
The end result is a kitchen that feels grounded and timeless. The client was delighted with the outcome – a space that honours traditional craft, embraces modern convenience, and offers real value without compromise.
